Our friend and colleague Simon made it. He defended his PhD thesis in a lecture and subsequent questioning. Congratulations Simon!
From the beginning:
After completing a master's degree in “Environmental and Energy Management” at the University of Twente, the decision was made to study for a PhD in aquaponics. In spring 2014, immediately after the founding of aquaponik manufaktur GmbH, Simon started working in the company and started his PhD in aquaponics. Initially at the University of Iceland, only to move to Wageningen University (WUR) 2 years later, one of the world's most renowned universities for agriculture.
Stages of aquaponics research
During this time, several publications were made and we are pleased that we were able to participate in the creation of this work. This is followed by the articles within the PhD program, the last one being very fresh and only published after the PhD thesis was defended.

The thesis
In his thesis “Opportunities and Challenges of Multi-Loop Aquaponic Systems”, he prepared the most important subject areas so far in order to put them together for discussion. We not only like the technical part of it, but also the foreword. Direct link to the PDF (link from the Wageningen University server):
