Individual feasibility study

The construction of a large aquaponics system raises many questions: What are the costs? Which fish and plants are suitable? How high are the yields? And how can the project be implemented economically and technically?

Our feasibility study provides you with well-founded answers. In a clearly structured process, we analyze all relevant factors – from site conditions and technical implementation to economic viability and marketing. This creates a solid foundation for your decision and the optimal start to your project.

Study procedure

In weekly meetings, we address key topics. We provide you with the necessary knowledge about aquaculture, hydroponics, building technology, cultivation methods, and suitable fish and plants. This knowledge forms the basis for jointly developing a customized facility concept that takes into account location factors, profitability, marketing, and cultivars. After each of the approximately 14 meetings, you will receive an updated interim report. The final report also includes a facility layout with all modules.

Survey of location factors

Location analysis and project constraints

We analyze location factors such as development costs, electricity and water sources, and weather data (e.g., temperatures, hours of sunshine). Together, we define the project goals and verify that all framework conditions are optimally aligned.

Basics

We provide expertise on hydroponics (cultivation methods, nutrient requirements, and crop management) and evaluate crops using Curtis Stone's "Crop Value Rating." In aquaculture, we consider fish species, husbandry conditions, and technical infrastructure.

Based on this, we develop a customized plant design. We define production modules, building type, heating, lighting, processing, storage, and cooling. Existing building structures and waste heat sources can be integrated.

Economic feasability and project constraints

We calculate operating costs (OPEX) for energy, personnel, heating, lighting, and consumables, as well as capital expenditures (CAPEX) for buildings, systems, and equipment. The profitability analysis includes a long-term perspective over 10 years and also considers maintenance and repair costs. This provides a solid foundation for assessing the long-term profitability of your individual system.

Sector insights and market strategy

We provide you with an overview of current market developments and define the value chain – from product and processing to logistics. We work with you to determine pricing and develop a marketing strategy that ranges from branding to direct marketing. We also examine advertising channels to specifically increase the reach of your products.
