Samaki plant in Entebbe is running

The aquaponics system tested in Issum was set up in Entebbe with two different teams from Enactus. All larger parts were procured locally. The aquaonic facility is affiliated with an organization that

Aquaculture and horticulture, combined as aquaponics, on the cutting edge of research. Plannable, feasible, reliable and above all profitable. We plan and implement your aquaponic system project together with you. We take your special wishes and individual requirements into account (e.g. existing areas or buildings for aquaculture and hydroponics). We are not limited to certain types of systems. Whether cold or warm, whether open, in a greenhouse or polytunnel. We get involved with your idea and help you plan and implement your project.

Aquaponik-Kreislauf

Aquaponics is not only a new process but also a new way of looking at things. Anyone who deals with it automatically thinks horticulture and aquaculture in cycles. The natural cycles merge seamlessly into one another. As in nature, worm culture, humus production, biogas plant and the production of feed are right next door. Secondary raw materials such as green waste or sewage sludge can be used through these additional cycles. We describe here how aquaponics works.

UASB/EGSB-Reaktorset für die Aufmineralisierung des Prozesswassers

Common in aquaponics: the rules of thumb. For example for the ratio of fish stock to the amount of plants or for the need for fish food. But what are the connections behind it? Due to the cycle with the many players, the processes are complex and not easy to calculate. The rules of thumb are based on estimated values. But if you want to calculate the exact nutrient uptake of plants, for example, you also need to know how evapotranspiration is calculated. It is the "engine" for nutrient uptake. Since we, like engineers, only want to build on hard facts, but many relationships have not yet been fully explored, we have engaged in research ourselves and are now happy to have taken this path. So we are now at the source of current knowledge about aquaponics.

We ask because the existing waste heat is very suitable for heating the greenhouse. In the case of a biogas plant, the aquaponic plant can also be included in the waste heat concept. And it can be tailored exactly to the required waste heat supply or waste heat concept. Depending on the size of the aquaponic facility, substances from aquaponics (e.g. green waste) can be used for the biogas facility. The same applies to waste heat of any kind. Heat sources can be exhaust air or cooling liquid. The transfer takes place without contact via heat exchangers. It can also e.g. are in an area of approx. 100m. For large aquaponic systems from a size of approx. 15,000 square meters, a small biogas system, which processes substrate from the system, can completely cover the entire requirements of the aquaponic system for heat and electricity.
